Two-way impact behind the plate for UAB
Austin Pierzynski is a **true freshman catcher** for UAB who has already earned trust as an everyday backstop, starting 34 games behind the plate and throwing out seven runners stealing while also showing some pop with his second home run of the 2026 season.[2][3][6] The 6-foot-2, 215-pound right-handed catcher brings a strong defensive foundation, quick exchange, and developing footwork, making him a high-upside fit for teams valuing arm strength, game control, and steady growth behind the plate.[4][7]
