Joe Mazza is Rutgers’ go-to lefty in high-leverage spots
In the 2026 season, Joe Mazza has emerged as Rutgers’ most trusted bullpen weapon, posting a 3.08 ERA with 45 strikeouts, only 13 walks, and four saves in 38 innings, while his 83 career appearances rank fourth all-time at Rutgers. He’s the kind of reliever coaches love: experienced, calm under pressure, and efficient enough to handle the late innings without burning the pen. Rutgers has also called him one of its ultra-reliable arms and top high-leverage options. If you want a battle-tested lefty who can miss bats and keep traffic down, Mazza is absolutely worth your attention.
