Ty Cupp brings steady defensive value behind the plate for Mercyhurst
Ty Cupp is a 5-foot-11 sophomore catcher at Mercyhurst whose most visible value is reliability: he appeared in 58 defensive chances in 2025 and posted a .983 fielding percentage, suggesting he’s a dependable everyday-type option. He also brings a local Pittsburgh/Norwin background and a workmanlike profile rather than flash, which can fit teams that prize toughness, consistency, and game management over pure offensive upside. His current profile points to a defense-first backstop with room to grow into a more complete college catcher.
