Homegrown Lobo arm with upside: Jacob Gergen brings local pride and a live right-handed profile
Jacob Gergen entered New Mexico as a freshman right-handed pitcher in the 2025-26 season, a 6-1, 170-pound Albuquerque product from Hope Christian who already stands out for staying home and competing with that classic local-kid edge. His appeal is simple: he’s a developmental arm with clean R/R mechanics, size to add strength, and the kind of hometown buy-in coaches love. Publicly available 2026 stat production is limited, so the real story is projection, not box-score noise—if your team wants a young pitcher with room to grow and a strong identity, he’s worth watching.
