Sydney McGuirk is a 6-foot sophomore catcher for Furman who arrived with a strong Minnesota prep résumé, including second-team all-state and academic all-state honors, plus a reputation for being among her state’s home-run leaders as a junior and senior in high school. In Furman’s 2026 stats, she’s been used in a limited role, so her impact hasn’t yet shown up much in the box score, but her build, right-handed power profile, and catcher/first-base versatility make her a watch-list fit for a team valuing upside and athletic depth. She looks like a developmental piece with real strength-based potential.
