6'6" LHP Chase Cartron is a big-bodied Troy arm with upside, but still finding consistency
Cartron has real projection: at 6'6" and 245 pounds, he brings a power-lefty frame and has already shown swing-and-miss ability in limited college work, striking out 3 in 2.2 innings across three bullpen appearances as a freshman in 2025, and he has 8 strikeouts in 2026 with Troy while working through early inconsistency[1][2]. Recruiting reports noted a fastball that touched 81 mph with a usable changeup and soft curveball, suggesting a developing three-pitch mix rather than a finished product[5]. He looks like a fit for a staff that values upside, patience, and long-term development over immediate polish[1][2][5].
