UIC’s do-everything defensive spark with sneaky pop
In the 2025 season, Vidal Colon hit .264 with an .781 OPS, 28 hits, four home runs and 17 RBI in 35 games for UIC, and he entered 2026 as a veteran utility weapon expected to anchor the Flames’ core. He’s a versatile defender who was recognized with a share of MVC Defensive Player of the Year honors and an All-Defensive Team nod in 2026, which tells you the glove travels anywhere the coach needs it. He’s the kind of player who helps a roster with contact, power flashes, and high-energy defense—exactly the sort of gritty, adaptable piece a winning team loves.
