Chris Billings brings mid-90s heat and strikeout punch to NDSU’s bullpen
Billings is a 6-foot-4 left-handed pitcher whose calling card is a power fastball that has been reported in the low-90s and up to the mid-90s, paired with a sharp breaking ball and swing-and-miss ability. At Phoenix College, he logged 39 strikeouts in 39 innings, and NDSU lists him as a transfer who also showed disciplined on-base skills as a junior-college hitter. He looks like a fit for teams wanting a high-upside reliever with leverage-inning stuff, but his best value will come if he tightens command and consistently lands his secondaries in the zone.
