Cal Poly QB Jackson Akins: flashed big-play potential, but the turnover bug is still the storyline
Akins entered 2026 as Cal Poly’s 6-foot-2, 205-pound redshirt junior quarterback with real arm talent and mobility, and in the 2024 season he showed he can handle volume, throwing for 679 yards and 4 TDs with 2 INTs in limited action. He’s a fit if a team wants a confident, prepared passer who can create off-script, but the 2025 season numbers also hint at volatility, so the big question is consistency: when he’s on, he can stretch a defense; when he’s off, the ball can get away from him.
