Providence's Intense Point Guard with High-Stakes Playmaking
Maliek White, the 6-2 Providence Friars point guard from Richmond, VA, stands out not just for his 5.4 PPG and 1.8 APG in the 2025-26 season [3], but for his relentless intensity and 'adversity builds character' mindset [6]. His differentiator is a rare blend of high-stakes playmaking (averaging 8 assists in high school [4]) and defensive grit, with 1.2 steals per game internationally [7]. While his 37.8% FG% [3] suggests shooting growth is needed, his personality—'Ever A Friar' [6]—and proven ability to lead teams to state titles [4] make him a culture-first fit for any team seeking resilience. He's not a stats monster yet, but his intensity and leadership make him a player you care about for his heart, not just his box score.
