Peyton Williams has emerged as Kent State’s go-to late-inning fireman
In the 2026 season, Kent State freshman RHP Peyton Williams has been a high-leverage weapon out of the bullpen, earning All-MAC Second Team honors while posting a 2.25 ERA in 20.0 innings with 35 strikeouts, 6 saves, and 15 scoreless outings. He’s a compact, power reliever at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds who attacks the zone, misses bats, and has already shown he can finish tight games against top competition. The “why care” part: this is the kind of arm that changes weekend series and survives pressure—fast. The fit? Yes, if you want a durable, strikeout-heavy reliever with closer traits and real freshman-season poise.
