DJ Vonnahme’s breakout makes Iowa’s TE room look scary again
In the 2025 season, Vonnahme emerged from walk-on status to become Iowa’s most productive receiver, finishing with 29 catches for 434 yards and 3 touchdowns, then punctuated the year with a 7-catch, 146-yard bowl performance. He’s a big-time fit if you want a tight end who can separate, create after the catch, and keep defenses honest with real vertical threat value—not just a glorified extra lineman. PFF ranked him sixth among returning Big Ten tight ends, and Iowa officially listed him as FWAA Freshman All-America, so the buzz is real.
