Undrafted UC Irvine Forward Now a Professional Free Agent with NBA Summer League Experience
JC Butler, a 6'5" forward from UC Irvine who graduated in 2022, is currently an unrestricted free agent after going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft and playing for the Miami Heat in the NBA Summer League. While his college stats were modest (averaging 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 2018-19), his differentiator is his proven ability to compete at the professional level despite limited collegiate production, showcasing intensity and adaptability that transcends raw numbers. His sociology major and civic engagement minor reflect strong character and community focus. For a team seeking a versatile, hard-working forward with NBA exposure and professional maturity, Butler offers a high-intensity fit who brings more than just stats—he brings resilience and a proven track record of seizing opportunities beyond the college spotlight.
