Islanders Righty Still Finding His Groove
Brock Thorndell is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-hander for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi who has shown swing-and-miss ability, but his 2026 line also shows some early-command wobble: 4 appearances, 2.2 innings, 4 strikeouts, and 5 walks with a 13.50 ERA. The appeal is the frame and arm profile—there’s real starter-reliever flexibility if the control sharpens—and the Islanders clearly trust him enough to keep him in the mix. If your staff wants a power arm with upside and patience for development, he’s worth a look; if you need immediate strike-throwing polish, the fit is less clean.
