Durable lefty who wins with strike-throwing and poise
Wernsing stands out as a dependable southpaw who has already shown he can handle meaningful innings for Southern Illinois, including a strong 5.1-inning, two-run start in the 2026 MVC tournament and relief work in a 4-1 win earlier in 2025.[3][4] He brings proven college success from Southwestern Illinois College, where he went 16-1 across the 2023 and 2024 seasons and earned all-conference honors both years.[1] Video reports also suggest a fastball that can reach the high 80s with a workable slider and changeup, making him a solid fit for teams valuing command, competitiveness, and matchup flexibility.[2]
