Liam O’Leary became St. John’s ace in 2026 and pitched his way to the MLB Draft
In the 2026 season, St. John’s RHP Liam O’Leary emerged as the Red Storm’s ace, finishing with 3.64 ERA, 78 strikeouts, and 108.2 innings while limiting hitters to a .248 average; earlier in the season, he also posted a 2.39 ERA through six starts and delivered multiple complete games, including an 8.0-inning gem in BIG EAST play.[1][3][4][6][9] The appeal is the profile: a 6-foot-4 righty with stamina, mound poise, and the kind of workload you trust in big games, which is why St. John’s rode him deep into postseason play before the Pirates took him in the 15th round of the 2026 MLB Draft.[1][3][4]
