Matthew Jung brings proven playmaking pedigree, but his Big Ten transition is still a work in progress
Jung’s appeal is his rare production and versatility: at Bethel in 2024 he was a Division III defensive standout with 109 tackles, 9 interceptions and 4 pick-sixes, and in his first Wisconsin season in 2025 he became a steady rotational safety with 50 tackles in 12 games, including 8 starts. His length, range and willingness to tackle stand out, but his first year in the Big Ten also exposed some coverage growing pains—most notably missed tackles and no pass breakups. He fits best as a high-ceiling, physical depth piece with upside if his consistency sharpens.
