Blaine McClure brings length, versatility, and proven ball production to Vanderbilt’s secondary
A 6-foot-1, 185-pound corner from Greenwich, Conn., Blaine McClure arrives at Vanderbilt with a strong prep résumé and a developmental upside that fits modern SEC defenses: he was a four-year letterman at Brunswick School, earned all-conference honors as a defensive back, and posted 26 tackles with 3 interceptions as a junior and 34 stops, 2 picks, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries as a senior. He sat out 2024 as a redshirt at North Carolina before transferring, so he’s still largely an upside play—but the takeaway is clear: he’s experienced, instinctive, and disruptive, with the kind of multiposition background coaches love in a CB.
