Tyler Velino brings veteran swingman grit to the Privateers' staff
Velino is a 6-foot-3 graduate-student right-hander for New Orleans who gives the Privateers experience, versatility, and a track record of doing a little bit of everything on the mound. In 2024, he made five relief appearances for UNO and previously went 3-1 with a 4.82 ERA and two saves in 2023 at Delgado CC; the Privateers also noted he earned his first Division I win in 2026, which says coaches trust him in leverage spots. He profiles as a tough, competitive, utility-style pitcher with starter-and-reliever value, which is exactly the kind of roster fit that helps a staff hold together over a long season.
