Cooper Cavanaugh is Davidson’s rising lefty strikeout arm
In the 2026 season, Cooper Cavanaugh emerged as Davidson’s Saturday starter and one of the Atlantic 10’s tougher lefties: he posted a 4-3 record, a 4.73 ERA, 72 strikeouts in 59.0 innings, and league-best hit prevention numbers that included 5.44 hits allowed per nine at one point and a .194 opponent average in conference play. He’s the kind of pitcher who can change a weekend with swing-and-miss stuff, as shown by his career-high 11-strikeout outing against George Washington. After injuries cut into his 2025 season, his comeback arc makes him especially interesting: high-upside, battle-tested, and trending up.
