Luke Oblen brings mid-90s heat and a deep pitch mix to App State
In the 2025 season, App State right-hander Luke Oblen flashed real upside as a true freshman, appearing in nine games with two starts and striking out five over nine innings while working a heavy mid-90s fastball and a four-pitch mix that includes a changeup, curveball, and slider. His strikeout pitchability is the selling point, but the early walk totals show he’s still sharpening command; the upside is obvious if your staff can polish the strike-throwing.
