Walter Mathis Jr. brings SEC size and rotation-ready upside to Auburn's defensive line
In the 2025 season, Walter Mathis Jr. logged 12 games at LSU with 9 tackles and 1 pass breakup, and Auburn’s early camp reports in 2026 say he’s been flashing in the defensive line mix. He stands out for his 6-2, 285-pound frame, SEC experience, and transferable upside as a disruptive interior piece rather than a finished product. The knock is the production profile: he’s more depth-and-development than proven star, but the recruiting pedigree and early buzz suggest a tough, physical fit for a line that wants bodies who can grow into impact reps.
