Mehki Flowers brings versatility and special-teams grit to Akron's secondary
Mehki Flowers is a multi-position defensive back who arrived at Akron after three seasons at Penn State, where he appeared in 14 games and logged two tackles. The bigger value play is his flexibility: Penn State moved him from safety to wide receiver before 2024, and recruiting services long viewed him as an athlete with receiver/safety traits and a good frame. In 2025, he entered Akron as a seasoned, competitive depth piece with special-teams experience and legitimate upside if the Zips want a DB who can adapt quickly and help in multiple roles.
