Derek Schlomann brings left-handed speed and upside to SDSU’s outfield
Schlomann is a freshman left-handed outfielder for South Dakota State with a speed-first profile that should play in the open field and on the bases. In high school, he hit .375 and stole 33 bases as a senior, including a single-game school record five steals, and he earned multiple all-conference honors plus an all-star selection. His game screams energy, pressure, and defensive fit—an athletic, disruptive piece for a team that wants juice on the bases and an outfield with range.
