John Shuey brings switch-hitting versatility and size to Illinois State’s infield/outfield mix
John Shuey is a 6-foot-2 junior who adds real roster flexibility for the Redbirds as an IF/OF, and his background suggests a productive bat with a .324 average, 10 doubles, 3 homers and 33 RBIs in the 2024-25 season at Parkland College. He made his Illinois State debut in 2026 as a pinch runner, which hints at situational value and athleticism more than a stat-stuffing role right away. The fit? Interesting, useful, and quietly sneaky—more Swiss-army knife than headline machine.
