Carter Cox is NIU’s strikeout-heavy lefty who can swing a weekend
In the 2026 season, Northern Illinois left-hander Carter Cox showed real swing-and-miss stuff, including an eight-inning, 12-strikeout shutout gem at UMass that earned MAC Pitcher of the Week honors and drew D1Baseball’s top pitching-performance nod for that day. He’s a high-usage, fearless competitor who can work deep enough to change a game, and his 11.18 strikeouts per nine innings highlighted the bat-missing upside. The fit question: if your team wants a tough, attack-minded starter with legit frontline flashes, Cox is absolutely worth a serious look.
