Mississippi Valley State’s high-upside arm with swing-and-miss relief chops
In the 2026 season, freshman right-hander Lucas Valencia has shown the kind of bullpen bite that can change a game, highlighted by a five-inning outing with just two runs allowed and three strikeouts on May 2, plus a 4.2-inning relief win with six strikeouts on May 9[3][6]. He’s a 6'3", 205-pound pitcher from West Palm Beach, and Mississippi Valley State lists him as a freshman arm with a strong pre-college résumé, including a 14-3 record, 2.42 ERA, and 130 strikeouts in his prior ballpark track record[10][12]. The flip side: his season has had some rough edges, including walks and a few early exits, so he looks more like a developing power arm than a finished product right now[4][9].
