Trent Murphy brings a big-frame, strikeout-heavy arm to Ball State
Murphy is a 6-foot-4 right-hander who arrives at Ball State after a productive 2025 freshman season at Purdue Fort Wayne, where he logged 37.2 innings across 21 relief appearances and struck out 44 hitters. The appeal is obvious: size, a live arm, and swing-and-miss stuff that already translated in game action, plus he showed he can attack hitters in relief rather than just nibble. The upside fit is strong for a staff that values power bullpen pieces; the only real question is how quickly he can turn that raw strikeout ability into consistent command and leverage innings.
