Towson’s Matt Russell: Freshman righty flashing strikeout upside, but still finding his command
In the 2026 season, Towson freshman right-handed pitcher Matt Russell has shown bat-missing ability with 16 strikeouts in 13.0 innings, while also working through the growing pains that come with a young arm. His profile leans toward upside over polish: he’s already been trusted in multiple bullpen looks, and his 2026 line suggests swing-and-miss potential, but command and run prevention remain the swing factors. If your staff wants a developmental arm with live stuff and room to grow, he’s worth a close look.
