Big-bodied UNCW righty who flashed true shutdown upside
Thornton is a 6'4", 210-pound RHP for UNCW who has shown swing-and-miss, frontline relief/rotation upside, highlighted by a complete-game 7-inning shutout with just one hit allowed and four strikeouts against Elon in March 2026. He also has enough track record to project as a usable college arm, with recruiting profiles showing a low-1.50s ERA and solid run prevention in limited innings, while his size and right-handed power profile add pro-style appeal. The main question is consistency after a rough outing against Charleston, but the upside is real if you want a physical pitcher who can dominate when the command is in sync.
