Ashford arrived at Cal as a 2023 defensive line recruit and, in the 2024 season, did not see game action, so the intrigue is still mostly projection, not production. He stands 6-foot-2 and 280 pounds, and his high school résumé at Arbor View was loud: 109 tackles, 23.0 tackles for loss, 16.0 sacks, plus forced turnovers in 22 varsity games. The differentiator is his rare blend of size, quickness, and strength — he reportedly flashed a 4.62 forty and a 445-pound bench — which makes him an appealing developmental fit for a defense looking for explosive interior disruption.
