Derek Paris brings two-way value behind the plate for UMBC
Paris is a steady, high-IQ catcher who paired a .324 average with 32 RBI in the 2026 season, while also handling the defensive side well by throwing out eight runners and going a perfect 5-for-5 on steal attempts at the plate. He adds value beyond the box score with strong durability, academic recognition, and a track record of improving production year over year, making him a fit for teams that want a disciplined, reliable backstop with run-producing upside.
