Zane Smith is a compact, physical Houston freshman RB with real downhill upside
In 2025, Zane Smith barely touched the ball as a freshman, but Houston listed him at 5-9, 235 pounds, and his high school résumé shows why he’s intriguing: 1,945 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns at Fulshear, plus enough power to pair with a rugby background. He looks like a short-yardage, contact-balance back more than a volume runner right now, and the early college sample is too small to call him a proven producer yet. If you want a tough, low-center-of-gravity runner with developmental upside, he’s a fit worth tracking.
