Iowa’s glue-guy tight end who wins with grit, not flash
Ortwerth enters the 2026 season as a steady, physical tight end for Iowa, valued more for run-game toughness and assignment-sound play than splashy box-score numbers. In 2025, he played in 12 games and started four, finishing with 9 catches for 76 yards and no touchdowns, while Iowa’s staff and local analysis praised him as a dirty-work blocker in the Hawkeyes’ zone-run scheme. He’s a solid fit for teams that want reliability, toughness, and a blue-collar edge at TE—not a pure seam-stretching mismatch machine.
