Talented Safety With SEC-level upside, but injuries have stalled his climb
Martinez is a long, athletic defensive back from Fort Lauderdale who now heads to Michigan State after three years at Western Carolina, but his on-field résumé is more about projection than production: Western Carolina’s official bio says he redshirted in 2023, missed the entire 2024 season with an injury, and did not play in 2025 because of another injury. That makes his upside the story here—he’s a 5-foot-10, 165-pound safety with secondary versatility and a background of playing multiple spots in high school, but durability is the big question. If he stays healthy, he’s an intriguing depth-and-development add.
