big-frame USC TE with four-star pedigree, but no box-score breakout yet
In the 2025 season, Joey Olsen was a 6-foot-5, 250-pound redshirt freshman at USC with blue-chip recruiting buzz, but he did not record a reception and later entered the transfer portal in January 2026. His appeal is the prototype: long, physical, and development-friendly at tight end, with enough upside that USC and recruiting services once viewed him as a top in-state prospect. For a team, he’s a bet on traits and runway rather than proven production—worth caring about if you want a high-upside TE project who still has time to grow into the role.
