DJ Helwig is a big-bodied Notre Dame RHP with swing-and-miss tools and starter upside
Helwig’s appeal is his projection: at 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds, he brings a long, power-arm frame, and Notre Dame used him as both a starter and a reliever in 2025, where he posted a 2-1 record with 20.2 innings and consistently missed bats, including a 4.1-inning, four-strikeout start vs. Belmont and a scoreless strikeout outing vs. Georgia Tech. He was also a high-upside prep arm, with reports of mid-90s velocity, and his profile suggests a fit for teams seeking size, strike-throwing upside, and a pitcher who can grow into more.
