Hogan Nelson’s DBU debut is still getting its legs, but the upside is real
In the 2026 season, Hogan Nelson has been a light-use freshman for Dallas Baptist, hitting .154 with 3 RBI in 15 plate appearances, but the early sample doesn’t erase a strong pre-college résumé or the tools that made him a top Texas prospect.[2][7] He was rated the No. 5 outfielder and No. 22 prospect in Texas by Perfect Game, and scouting reports point to a compact, athletic frame, real bat speed, and pull-side power potential—plus the kind of multi-sport competitiveness that usually shows up fast when the game slows down.[1][7]
