Liam Thyen brings a big-frame lefty arm with upside, but 2026 was a work-in-progress
In the 2026 season, George Washington LHP Liam Thyen appeared in 10 games, made four starts, and logged 15.2 innings with 12 strikeouts while picking up a win against Navy[1]. At 6-foot-4 with a left-handed delivery, his appeal is the classic “projection” combo: size, angle, and enough swing-and-miss to hint at more if the command sharpens[1][6]. He was ranked a top-500 national recruit and the No. 8 pitcher in Virginia by Perfect Game, which underscores the upside; the fit is best for a team patient enough to develop his strike-throwing and consistency[1][12].
