Appelhans has carved out a real bench weapon role for Drake by spacing the floor with confident 3-point shooting, including a 2025-26 run of 5.3 points per game on 40.0% from deep in 13.6 minutes per game, after hitting 40.5% from three at New Mexico the year before.[2][4][11] His biggest differentiator is shot-making range: he once erupted for 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting from 3 in a single game, showing he can change a game fast when he gets hot.[13][15][17] At 6-foot-6, he brings useful size for a guard, but his fit is best for teams needing shooting gravity more than primary creation.[5][11]
