Michael Savarese brings ace-level pedigree and real swing-and-miss juice to Pitt
Savarese arrived at Pittsburgh in 2026 with a monster résumé: in the 2025 season at Pasco-Hernando State, he went 14-0 with a 1.71 ERA and 144 strikeouts, earning NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Year honors; he’s a big-bodied 6-foot-3 righty with a fastball that has been reported in the 93-94 mph range and a history of leading staffs, not just filling innings. For a team, that means upside, competitiveness, and proven strikeout ability — the kind of arm you want if you’re buying on rotation ceiling and mound presence.
