High-upside Utah State safety with a sticky-coverage reputation
Lava Vailahi is a redshirt freshman safety at Utah State who arrives with a strong high school résumé: 226 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 46 pass breakups at West High in Salt Lake City, plus three-star recruiting buzz and offers from Hawaii and Iowa State. He hasn’t logged college game stats yet, but his profile screams range, ball production, and competitive toughness — the kind of defensive back who can tighten windows and make offenses pay for mistakes. If you want a young, developmental playmaker with legit instincts, he’s worth a close look.
