Local kid turned Bison safety with high-upside versatility
Landon Meier is a Fargo native and former Shanley star who arrived at North Dakota State as a quarterback/free safety athlete and is now listed as a sophomore safety/defensive back in 2026, a nice sign of positional flexibility and football IQ. In 2025, he appeared in three games and logged his first career tackle against South Dakota, while his high school résumé featured record-setting passing numbers, a 4.01 GPA, and captain-level leadership. Why care? He looks like a smart, coachable, multi-sport competitor with room to grow into a reliable NDSU defensive back.
