Damion Squire brings veteran shot-making and defensive juice to Portland State
Damion Squire is a seasoned 6'1" guard whose calling card has long been efficient perimeter scoring, steady playmaking, and disruptive defense; in his 2020-21 season at UC Davis, he averaged 11.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.4 steals while shooting 47.5% from the field, 38.2% from three, and 84.4% at the line. He also ranked among the Big West’s better free-throw shooters and steal producers, which hints at a guard who can help both sides of the ball. The big question is fit and availability: he previously left Portland State for personal reasons, so his value depends on whether the on-court consistency and maturity match the production.
