Ryan Walsh is a promising Virginia Tech freshman arm with upside and a pro-style frame
In the 2026 season, Ryan Walsh arrived at Virginia Tech as a freshman pitcher from Pittsburgh’s Bethel Park High School, and his profile points to a development piece with room to grow rather than a finished product.[2][3] Recruiting notes and pre-college evaluations describe a right-hander with projectable size, a repeatable delivery, and a mix that can miss bats when his fastball rides above the belt, which makes him appealing if you want an arm with upside and strike-throwing potential.[11] He also spent time in summer ball with the Pulaski River Turtles in 2026, a sign he’s getting live innings and continuing to climb.[1][4]
