Caleb Sweeney brings live left-handed stuff, but command is the separator
Sweeney is a physically mature lefty who pairs a sturdy 6'2", 226-pound frame with an over-the-top delivery and enough strike-throwing flashes to project more velocity as he gets stronger. In 2026 at LMU, he has worked 21.1 innings with an 18:25 strikeout-to-walk profile and a 5.91 ERA, which points to real stuff but inconsistent location. His appeal is upside: PBR notes good bat speed and mound confidence, while the present fit is for a staff willing to develop command and polish rather than needing an instant plug-and-play starter.[1][2][8]
