High-upside ECU arm with a starter’s pitch mix and real velocity
Wines is an East Carolina recruit whose profile points to a power right-hander with starter traits: a mature 6-foot, 200-pound frame, a fastball already sitting in the low 90s, and a tight, late-breaking slider he throws with confidence; evaluators also believe the heater could climb to 95–96 as he continues to develop. That combination makes him intriguing if you want upside, strike-throwing potential, and a pitcher who can eventually miss bats at a higher level. The main “why care” is simple: he looks like a future rotation piece, not just a thrower.[2]
