Taniela Pepa is a big-bodied Utah DT prospect built for early-down run defense
Pepa enters Utah with the profile of a physical interior defender: a 6-foot-2, 230-pound recruit from Bingham High who was on the Utes’ active roster in 2025 but did not see game action, so the upside is still developmental rather than statistical.[1][3] The key reason to care is his size-to-spot fit and run-stopping potential, with outside evaluations describing him as a sophomore DT developing into a run-stopper; the main fit question is whether he can translate that frame into consistent power and production against Big 12 line play.[6]
