James Rivera brings senior depth to MVSU, but the run prevention has been rough
In the 2025 season, James Rivera was a senior right-handed pitcher at Mississippi Valley State with 5 appearances, 3.0 innings, 3 strikeouts and a 36.00 ERA, and the 2026 season preview still listed him on the Delta Devils roster as a senior arm. He looks like a depth-and-experience pickup more than a headline stopper: proven roster presence, older-body maturity, and some bat-missing ability, but the run prevention numbers show he’s been hit hard. If your team wants a veteran flyer with upside in a lower-pressure role, he’s intriguing; if you need an immediate rotation anchor, the stat line says “proceed carefully.”
