Strike-throwing righty with a real big-game résumé
Montone has been a steady part of Rider’s pitching staff, logging 42.2 innings in 2025 with 33 strikeouts, a 3-1 record, and a 5.48 ERA, while also delivering one of his best outings in a MAAC Tournament elimination game with 4.1 scoreless innings and just one hit allowed. His value is less about overpowering numbers and more about resilience, willingness to take the ball in meaningful spots, and enough swing-and-miss to matter; after earlier inconsistency, his 2025 step forward suggests a useful depth arm who can compete in pressure situations.[1]
